Frequently asked questions

Fees

My fee is comparable to other therapists serving the San Francisco Bay Area. I offer a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation to discuss the process of psychotherapy and answer any questions you may have. Please contact me to hear more about my specific fees and how we may work together. I accept payment via cash, check, PayPal, and credit card.

Insurance

I am not currently In-Network with insurance companies; however, I can assist you in the process of utilizing your Out-Of-Network benefits by providing a superbill for you. If you are unsure of your mental health benefits, I recommend you call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.

Here are some helpful questions to ask:

1. Does my plan cover Out-of-Network Providers?

2. Do I have a deductible? If so, how much have I met?

3. Do I have coinsurance? What percentage is my responsibility for payment?

4. How do I submit claims and/or statements from my provider?

I am happy to clarify this process further during our initial phone consultation and/or initial session.

 Schedule and Cancellation Policy

Sessions are typically 50 minutes and occur one time per week. This framework of therapy sessions is encouraged to build consistency, structure, and momentum so that you can gain the most from your sessions. The number of therapy sessions and frequency will be determined after an assessment is completed and your unique situation evaluated. The assessment period is typically the first through second or third session. I'm also happy to review the option of bi-weekly or HIPAA compliant video sessions, when appropriate. If you need to cancel your appointment, I ask that you contact me as soon as possible to reschedule. If you do not cancel your appointment within 48 hours, I do charge a full session fee.

Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
All communications will be held in strict confidence unless you provide written permission to release information about your treatment.
There are exceptions to confidentiality. These include:

  • In cases of suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse.

  • If you are threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s or harm to self.

  • If I am subpoenaed by a judge or Homeland securty, I am legally obligated to provide any requested records.

  • As part of my practice, I consult with other licensed clinicians to ensure the best care possible for my clients. These consultations do not include identifying information, so you can ensure your confidentiality is respected.

Minors and Confidentiality
Communications between therapists and clients who are minors (under the age of 18) are confidential. However, parents and other guardians who provide authorization for their child’s treatment are often involved in their treatment. Consequently, I may discuss the treatment progress of a minor with the parent or guardian.

Please ask about any questions you have regarding confidentiality and exceptions to confidentiality.
